An option for your Saturday afternoon is the Annie Oakley shotgun shooting game with your Legacy brothers.
Sign up for this when you arrive Friday night, or by the end of breakfast on Saturday morning.
Not all that confident in your shotgun skills? There will be an area set aside to give you some coaching.
Bring a box or two of # 7-1/2 or # 8 shells.
Bring hearing and eye protection.
12 gauge or 20 gauge, pump, automatic, over/under, side-by-side all are OK.
Range safety officers will only allow you to load one shell at a time during the Annie Oakley competition.
For the game, you will be randomly assigned to one of the "flights" of up to 15 shooters. The top 2 shooters in each flight will advance to a championship round to win prizes.
The rooms at the retreat are not locked, so keep your shotgun and shells locked in your car or truck.
New to the Annie Oakley game? It is a competition where a group of shooters step up to the firing line to take a shot, in order, one after the other, attempting to break the thrown clay target. If the first shooter misses, the next shooter can shoot and so on until it hits the ground or is broken by a shot. When a shooter misses, the next in line can fire and "put out" the shooter that missed by breaking the clay. If both of the first two shooters miss, and the third shooter breaks the clay target, then both shooter #1 and #2 are out of the round. If no one breaks the clay before it hits the ground, the shooters are all still in the round.
