Monthly Meeting Recap

It was great Monday night to enjoy a meal, fellowship and encouragement by gathering together.

Pepper Seaman led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Ben Robert, our Legacy Chaplain, said the opening prayer.  

The Cook Team did a great job as usual and served us Sloppy Joes and beans.   

Thanks to all who brought new guys with you to the meeting.  This is the primary way that the ministry of Legacy Outfitters grows to reach more men in our area.

Cody Wells presented a series of photos that both gave us a good laugh and helped us to celebrate the success of recent hunting and fishing trips.

Scott Robison encouraged us to participate in the Focus Group meetings to have spiritual conversations with men who share the same outdoor interests. 

Scott also touched on this month Fire Pit Topic, being “Trustworthy and Dependable”.  Scott explained how being dependable can help us to be better fathers, husband and men of God. Jesus was dependable and fulfilled every promise of the Old Testament. We should be walking together to learn to be more like Him

We were able to enjoy two speakers this month.

First up was Marty McIntyre our resident expert “Bow Fisherman” as well as a local guide on the Brazos and Trinity.  He explained a little about the fish he targets and how he does so.  Marty uses a custom boat with lights to target Buffalo, Carp and Gar at night.   If you are interested in bow fishing or would like to book a trip with him, please feel free to reach out to Marty at Legacy or through his business at Garquest.com.

Our Second speaker was Bill Daly.  Bill shared with us some of his testimony.  He told us that he accepted Christ in 9th grade, went on to be married with 2 kids, successful in business.  Bill was active in church especially young life ministry, the very model of a happy Christian existence. 

Then out of the blue his wife Ann announced to him that she didn’t love him anymore, from there his life spiraled out of control.  After not eating or sleeping he ended up at church screaming before God.  Jesus met Bill there and removed the blinders so he could see his heart. 

Up until that moment his entire life had been self-glorifying completely caught up in what others thought.  He realized he had been a hypocrite, that it had been all about him, about earning salvation.  After showing him his heart, Jesus told him, “Bill, I love you” and “I want a relationship with you”.  Only Jesus can know the depth of our sin and still love us. 

When Bill had come close to ending his life in December of 2008, 2 Corinthians 7:10 saved him.  “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death”. 

God never abandoned Bill, his life has been transformed by the work of God.  Finding Godly sorrow and repentance has led him to a closer walk with Jesus, restored his marriage and changed his life.  Now Jesus calls him friend.  Bill’s life is a great example of Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."  It’s not always easy to see in the moment but God is faithful and He can be depended on to keep his promises.
